The
research of Karin Hek focuses on anxiety disorders in the elderly. Her
research project is set within the Rotterdam Study, a large prospective
population-based cohort of elderly persons in Ommoord, Rotterdam. Data
on anxiety disorders and many other variables, including depression,
were collected during follow-up rounds for more than 5000 individuals.
In addition, genetic material was available for most individuals. Karin uses the data from the Rotterdam Study to gain insight in the epidemiology of anxiety disorders in the elderly and to identify genetic variants associated with anxiety disorders. |
